Since v1.81, the default behavior of popup window in IE engine is popping up a new Firefox window, sometimes with a grayed location bar. However, some people are prefer to use Firefox tabs instead of new windows, and also some other people are prefer to use new IE windows instead of Firefox windows.
So, I provided a new config entry:
Type about:config in Firefox's location bar, press enter, and find coral.ietab.open_newwindow.
The default value is 1, which means, the popup window in IE engine will be a new Firefox window.
If the value is 0, the popup window in IE engine will be a new IE window. This option may also be very useful when Coral IE Tab is not working properly on some IE-only sites, for examples, some OWA sites. But sometimes it will require the users to login again in the newly popped IE window.
If the value is 2, the popup window in IE engine will be always in new Firefox tabs, ignoring the config value of Firefox's browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction setting.
The above config entry will take effect in "Advanced Mode". However, it will be disabled in "Classic Mode", because in design, "Classic Mode" should behave exactly the same as the old IE Tab.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
I have looked for the coral.ietab.open_newwindow. but it is not there? how do you add it or is just missing?
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
This entry in only available in the latest release v1.81.20100304 or later. Please update to the latest version.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window

Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Hi quaful! sorry, I've just posted in the wrong section then found this one.. Even if I modify the behaviour in the string coral.ietab.open_newwindow (set to 1 or 2) can't fix the problem.. any idea please? :(

Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Hey Dario,
did you refresh the page after you changed the settings?
I tried it in Outlook Web Access and it performed correctly after refreshing the page itself.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
The popup window can't put behind the main window just like it is always on top. Please check and fix this. Thanks.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Daniel, it is a limitation of Firefox's window.open() api. I hate this, but the workaround is even more dirty.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Thanks for the change, my OWA works properly now. It's also solved a midly annoying problem of the window/tab not closing after sending. I had to bcc myself all the time to ensure that the mail had actually gone through.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Wonderful, I noticed that I had to re-login every time sending a message, but didn't see that I was working in IE.
Now my problems are solved!
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
I'm getting the same problems, but the coral.ietab.open_newwindow isn't there - Coral IETab is reporting that I'm using version 1.80, but when I ask it to update, it says that updates aren't available!
Help!
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
I've just updated to version 1.85.20100407 and now my IE Javascript links no longer open in new windows.
I've tried setting the open_newwindow value to 0,1 & 2 but nothing seems to make a difference. After restarts/refresh of Firefox, the next time I enter the about:config the correct value is shown for what I just entered, however there is no change to the control of the tabs/windows. It seems like the control is always as described by value 2 above.
Any help on this?
Thanks,
Ant
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Ant, it seems that you have selected Coral IE Tab to work in "Classic Mode". If you want to control its behavior, you need to select "Advanced Mode".
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Is there a way to prevent the "security warning" when in Private Browsing?
I know that IE is not secure and doesn't support private browsing, and I don't need to do two extra clicks every time the website pops up a new window, which happens frequently.
A "don't warn me about this any more" option would be helpful.
Thanks
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Hi oldbaritone, I'll add a setting in the next version.
Re: Control The Behavior of Popup Window
Using firefox tabs are more convenient than opening new window.
